Lunch with Erwin
Go Steelers…enough said.
Hello all. Thank you for checking in again. So for those of you check in and do not know who Erwin McManus is…well then you are not going to be very excited about the fact that I got to pick him up from the airport and then have lunch with him! For those of you that do know who he is well…pretty cool huh??? I was able to go with a pastor from our church and spend two hours with just the three of us.
It was amazing. The thing that was so cool, is that if I said I had lunch with Michael Jordan, everyone would think it is cool because he has a great jump shot. But it is cool to have lunch with Erwin because of how much God has used him in his life. Which is cooler? If you ask me I would rather spend a day with Erwin, but that is just me.
So I had a pretty moving experience this past week. Allow me to explain. At Denver Seminary every semester (except for your first) you have to choose a professional and personal topic that you want to learn about. And for each topic you have to spend 60 hours focusing on each throughout the semester. For this semester I choose Personal Services for my professional topic, such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications etc… and for my personal topic I chose my marriage.
One of the pastors from the church I am interning at had to do a funeral this week. So I went along with him to assist. It was a funeral for a 28 year old father of two who died of skin cancer. It was the first funeral that I ever attended that I wasn’t there because of some sort of a relationship with the deceased. Needless to say it was a very moving day. It only reaffirms my desire to live this life for Christ. Knowing that this is the only chance I will get. It is inevitable that you and I will stand before God someday and I want to be able to tell God that I lived for Him with all that I have….don’t you?
Until all of heard,
Tim
